THE WOODBURY STORY A HISTORIC 125 YEAR OLD HOUSE OVER 6,700 SQUARE FEET
Welcome to the Woodbury Story Website. The website was named after the first 2 owners of the house. Captain Frederick Woodbury and Hampton Story. Captain Woodbury built the house in 1882, he lived there for years. Hampton Story lived in the home for 20 years. Hampton hired famed architect Frederick Roehrig to add on the music ballroom, a sunroom, porte cochere, game room, and bathrooms. Its hard to believe it but back in 1882, restrooms were outhouses! The estate is unaltered, there are no modern features. Its like walking back in time. The attention to detail, use of rare woods, the stunning 13 ft high ceilings, thick handmade crown moldings, three 13ft high wood double doors shut off each room on first floor are made from 1 piece of wood from a massive tree and 7 unique custom made fireplaces and so much more! After the estate had its additions, the ranch house was the center of the social society back in the late 1800's to early 1900's. The unique architectural style of the estate is rare too, being a twist of high victorian combined with Italianate with the use of thick oversized roof brackets on the top of the 2 story estate. It is a sight to see! Please join our web-site so you can access photos and if you have any questions please email me or call me for any questions regarding filming. Sally Elbert 1-818- 312-1617
